Sporting forces have become "a powerful force in the process of great renewal of the Chinese people." As pivotal figures in shaping the nation's future, the growth opportunities of the youth shape the nation's trajectory. As societal advancement continues, the lives and educational challenges of junior high students escalate, leading to a bleak outlook for their physical and mental well-being. The challenge lies in safeguarding the physical and mental health of these students and enhancing their adaptability to school life, a pressing issue in the educational sector. Consequently, this research employs methods such as analyzing literature data, conducting questionnaire surveys, and other investigative techniques. The questionnaire on physical exercise Behavior, psychological capital and school adaptation of Junior Middle School students, which consists of four parts: self-made demographic questionnaire, Deqing's revised physical exercise activity scale, Zhang Kuo's revised Psychological capital Scale and Cui Na's school adaptation questionnaire, was developed as a measuring tool. 1200 junior high school students from 8 junior middle schools in Xinjiang were selected as effective research subjects, and SPSS 27.0 and AMOS 29.0 were used to analyze and make statistics on the data, aiming to understand the status quo of junior high school students' physical exercise level, psychological capital status and school adaptability, and to clarify the internal relationship among them. Explore the mediating role of psychological capital.
The research leads to these findings: junior high students engage in moderate physical activity, their psychological capital is typically lower, and the school's adaptation is effective at higher levels. The physical exercise time of junior middle school students is the lowest in the three dimensions of physical exercise behavior, the school attitude is the lowest in the five dimensions of school adaptation, and the toughness is the lowest in the four dimensions of psychological capital. (1) The overall difference in physical exercise behavior is significant in gender, but the difference in each dimension is not significant;Notable disparities exist across the entire spectrum and educational stages. No variance was found in their origins. (2) Psychological capital, the overall and four dimensions of gender differences are significant; Notable variances were observed both in the general level and across individual dimensions. (3) The process of adapting to school varies markedly across genders and five aspects; notable disparities were observed both in the general level and in individual dimensions. No variance was observed in their origins. (4) There's a significant positive correlation between junior middle schoolers' physical activity patterns and their mental capital; likewise, there's a notable positive correlation between physical exercise and their adaptation to school life. A notable positive link exists between psychological capital and the ability of junior middle schoolers to adapt to school environments.
(5) Psychological capital acts as a mediator linking physical activity patterns to the educational adaptation of junior middle schoolers, whereas physical exercise indirectly influences their adaptation to school via psychological capital.
Suggestions : (1) Aiming at the all-round development of adolescents' physical and mental health, family, school and community should be encouraged to work together. (2) Cultivate strong adolescent mental state by exploiting positive psychological resources as a strategy. (3) Establish a joint mechanism of "three optimizations" to improve the adaptability of schools.
